LPGA Players talk about favorite Halloween costumes

Paula Creamer
I was a California Raisin one year.
Natalie Gulbis
I was a Genie when I was 11 and my mom made the costume by hand. She hand stitched the puffy pants and tube top.
Tiffany Joh
I have to say when I was in college, our team dressed up as the Village People. I was the Indian. I think, Sydnee Michaels was the Cop. Mariajo Uribe was the construction worker.
Cindy LaCrosse
When we were kids my sister and I were two of the 101 dalmatians. It was awesome.
Brittany Lincicome
I loved being a BIG pumpkin every year probably because I love carving them so much. :-)
Paige Mackenzie
Football player. My friend Shannon and I both dressed up like football players in 4th grade and ran a play at every door.
Gerina Piller
My favorite costume as a kid was the best costume I ever had that my aunt made for me. It was Puff the Magic Dragon. I have a few first place ribbons underneath my belt in that costume.

LPGA Players Participate in a Junior Mentoring Program

There are many talented Korean players currently on the LPGA Tour and on Thursday at the LPGA HanaBank Classic, a few of the LPGA players had a chance to view the bright future of Korean golf. LPGA players Stacy Lewis, Sandra Gal, and Vicky Hurst took part in a Junior Mentoring Program at the Sky 72 Golf Club on the day before this week’s tournament was set to kick off.

Six of Korea’s top junior golfers were participants in the clinic that worked on three areas of the game – driving, sand shots and putting. Each of the three LPGA Tour players were matched up with two junior golfers as they rotated through the stations. At the end of the clinic, the teams competed in a contest featuring the skills they had learned and the players then took photos with the juniors and made hand imprints.

Players to Follow at the Safeway Classic Presented by Coca-Cola

Welcome to the Safeway Classic Presented by Coca-Cola. Are you looking for a player to root for this weekend at Pumpkin Ridge?
Or just a little knowledge on who some of the players in the field? Well, here are nine names to remember.

1. Defending Champion Ai Miyazato highlights a star-studded field. Miyazato is coming into this year’s event playing some of her best golf of the season. She earned her first victory of 2011 at the Evian Masters last month, becoming the fourth player to have won multiple titles at the event, and finished tied for sixth at the U.S. Women’s Open at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colo.

2. Rolex Rankings No. 1 Yani Tseng is coming off her second major victory of the season at the RICOH Women’s British Open, which made her the youngest golfer in history – male or female– to capture five major titles.

3. Suzann Pettersen is heading into the event with a recent win on the Ladies European Tour. Pettersen ended her 20 month win draught on the LPGA Tour earlier this season at the Sybase Match Play Championship and has finishes of T4 and T2 in the previous years at Pumpkin Ridge.

4. Cristie Kerr has a strong history at the Safeway Classic, having won the event in 2008 when it was played at Columbia Edgewater Country Club and finishing in a tie for second at the tournament last year. Her hope is that perhaps her winless drought will come to an end this week at Pumpkin Ridge.
